Cerridwen: Keeper of the Cauldron

Who is Cerridwen?

Cerridwen is the Celtic goddess of transformation, alchemy, and deep, initiatory wisdom. She is the keeper of the sacred cauldron — the vessel of rebirth, magic, and inner knowing.

She is not a goddess of light and ease. She is the force that breaks illusion, dissolves identity, and reshapes us through experience.

Where Cerridwen is present, something is changing.

Her Story

Cerridwen brewed a potion of wisdom for her son. It was meant to grant him knowledge and insight.

But fate intervened.

A boy named Gwion who was tasked with stirring the potion daily, accidentally received the potion instead as three drops splashed onto his hand and he licked them off.

What followed was not a blessing — but an initiation.

Cerridwen pursued him through a series of shape-shifting transformations:

Hare → Greyhound
Fish → Otter
Bird → Hawk
Grain

Finally, she devoured him by shifting into a Hen.

From this destruction, he was reborn as Taliesin — a great bard, filled with wisdom.

This is her teaching:

You do not gain wisdom gently.

You are transformed by it.

What Does She Represent?

Transformation and alchemy
Death and rebirth cycles
Shadow work and deep truth
The womb, the void, the unknown
Inner knowing beyond illusion

She is not the guide who walks beside you.

She is the threshold you must cross.

Cerridwen reminds us that transformation is not comfortable — but it is sacred.

You do not become wise by staying the same.

You become wise by entering the unknown, allowing what must fall away… and trusting what rises in its place.

Working with Cerridwen + Libra Together

This combination is powerful.

  • Libra shows you the truth through reflection

  • Cerridwen transforms that truth at a soul level

Together they ask:

  • Can you see clearly?

  • And are you willing to change?

This is not surface-level healing—it is deep, lasting transformation.
